Lucid No. 9 and Pro Series are clear, liquid SiO2 based nano-ceramic protective coatings. They’re hand applied and once cured they transform their self on the surface to a semi-permanent glass shield. Lucid can be easily described as an additional layer of clear coat, with 3 times the hardness and self-cleaning properties of standard OEM clear coats used by car manufacturers.

Lucid provides your vehicle with 3 years of protection with a single coat. After application the protective barrier formed is 100 times thicker than that provided from a traditional wax or paint sealant! It is applied to painted, metal, glass and nonporous plastic surfaces.

In the ceramic coating industry, the pencil hardness test is used to verify the hardness of coatings and their scratch resistance. The test uses constant pressure and variable hardness of the graphite lead as its fundamental principle. Pencils of varying hardness, starting with the hardest lead, are moved over the surface under a fixed pressure of 7.5 Newtons and at a fixed angle of 45 degrees to the surface. The degree of hardness of the graphite pencil which damages the surface is taken as a measurement for the coating hardness rating. Lucid No. 9 and Lucid Pro Series score 9H on the pencil hardness test, which is the highest strength rating possible. The standard clear coat used by automotive manufacturers varies from only a 2H to 4H rating.

"Usually I do my own hand washing and sealing/waxing but since I daily drive my car year round I decided I needed to step up my protection with a ceramic coating. I took my mustang in to Flawless for a 2 stage paint correction and application of Optimum Gloss Coat ceramic coating. The process took 5 days (over labor day weekend no less) from drop off to pickup which was reasonable given the amount of labor, prep, and cure time involved. I have to say the wait was definitely worth it. The car came out looking gorgeous, the flat body panels are basically mirrors now and the gloss from the ceramic coating makes the mustang look like the photoshopped perfection you see in a car ad.Clinton was really easy going, accommodating, and knowledgeable as well. He knows his products and made sure the coating had the proper time to cure before releasing it to me since I had to pickup in the rain and even offered to hold the car in his shop another day just for the weather to clear up.Come time to pick up, he told me he applied a complimentary coating of Opti-Glass on the windows to match the coating on the rest of the car which was awesome. They also unexpectedly had given the interior and floor mats a quick clean and vacuum which was a nice touch, saved me having to do it the next weekend! Even without the complimentary services though I felt that everything was fairly priced and well worth it.Overall I had an excellent experience, the car came out wonderful, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Flawless Auto Finish to my friends, family, or anyone else."

When selecting the right product to meet the requirements of our clients, there were some key attributes that we had to make sure were met for the product to be the right fit. The key factors we were looking for the coating to offer were the following:

1. Exceptional hydrophobic and self-cleaning effect on surfaces after application. This is a very important feature, if not the most important feature on our list of requirements. This is crucial, because it’s the key factor that makes future maintenance washes significantly easier. Your vehicle will also stay noticeably cleaner, for much longer periods of time in between washes. All surfaces coated will tend to repel dirt, water and contaminants due to the drastically improved hydrophobic effect. The levels reached after coating, would never be able to be achieved through application of a traditional carnauba wax or synthetic polymer paint sealant.

2. A product that would provide chemical resistance to the surfaces it has been applied to. Also a product that demonstrates good resistance to salt, due to the sometimes excessive exposure your vehicle is subject to during the winter months.

3. The ability to intensify overall gloss, color depth and metallic paints.

4. A product that will provide a minimum of 12 months or more of durable protection on daily drivers.

5. A coating that is capable of protecting surfaces from light scratching and helping to withstand micro-marring.

   After extensive testing, we found that the coating we selected excelled highly in all 5 of the key attribute areas listed above. Lucid is our premier top-tier coating product and remains our top recommendation, if you’re looking to maximize the gloss, color depth and overall vehicle surface protection. However, our 12+ month coating option is an excellent choice and will provide many of the same great benefits as our longer-term coatings. You obviously will not get the same level of durability as you do with the Lucid coatings. Also, the gloss enhancement level is not quite as intense with this option, but it still produces exceptional results as all client feedback we’ve received to date has proved.
