How does the scratch removal process work?
A majority of the vehicles on the road today were painted using a base coat/ clear coat process. Meaning that the panels were first sprayed with base coat, which is what gives your vehicle panels its color. The panels are then sprayed with clear coat, which offers the base coat protection, from scratching, contaminants and uv damage. It is also what gives the paint it's glossy finish. So therefore as long as the scratch is not all the way into the base coat it can usually be removed without being re-painted, through fine sanding and buffing. A simple test is to gently run your finger against the scratch, in the opposite direction the scratch is going, if your fingernail does not catch onto the scratch it can usually be removed. The first step in the repair is to wet sand the scratch using a fine grit sandpaper. Once the scratch is removed, the area is then wet sanded using a ultra fine foam sanding disk. The entire panel is then buffed using our 3 stage compound & polish process. Leaving you with a high gloss unscratched finish. Our expert scratch removal technicians have multiple years experience in automotive refinishing & scratch removal, guaranteeing the highest quality repair. We are your body shop alternative.
How does the 3 stage compound & polish buffing process work?
The compound & polish buffing process is used to remove minor scratches, oxidization, (which makes the clear coat have a smoky hazed look to it) swirl marks, and surface imperfections. First all of the exterior painted panels are buffed with compound, this is what removes the heavy surface imperfections & scratches. The next step is buffing using a finish polish, which removes minor scratches, swirl marks,& restores the high gloss clear coat. The final step is ultra fine polish buffing, which optimizes clear coat gloss, and ensures a flawless auto finish.
