Waxed Only vs. 1 Stage Correction & Wax vs. 2 Stage Correction & Wax

The RV below is an older model and has not been detailed previously in many years. It was brought to our shop by a client who recently purchased it used, overall it’s a very nice RV, however it was definitely neglected by the previous owner and not properly maintained. It just needed a little TLC. Through our test spot comparison, we were able to give the client an idea of how the finish would turn out with each package we offer. With the gelcoat having a large amount of scratches, swirl marks, surface marring and overall defects we recommended going with our “Premier Gelcoat Correction Package” to achieve the best overall results. After completing our test spot sections, it proved to be the best route and ultimately what our client selected.

The video above and pictures below demonstrates and really emphasizes the importance of performing test spots, before starting any paint correction or gelcoat correction service. Our team performs test spot sections on every complete paint correction service that we offer, prior to starting the complete correction process. We want to always make sure that we can deliver the best quality results, while meeting and exceeding our clients expectations.

You can also see how much of a difference the daylight spectrum spotlight makes when inspecting a vehicles paint or the gelcoat on a RV or boat, after the correction work is completed. The daylight spectrum light simulates what it will look like at midday, in direct sunlight. Checking our gelcoat and paint correction work after completion with the proper professional specialized lighting is a critical part of our final inspection process that is never overlooked by our team. We do not hide defects, we permanently remove them and then ensure that the surfaces are properly protected!

This service is great for new or well maintained RV’s and trailers, but with this one being an older model, with heavy wear and tear, it was definitely in need of a much more in depth service.

Test spot section after our “Deluxe Wash, Machine Polish & Wax” service with inspection using daylight spectrum specialized lights. Even though the one stage polishing was able to make a drastic improvement and remove a significant amount of the defects, something a little more in depth with greater cutting ability was needed to achieve the best possible overall results on this RV.

Test spot section after our “Premier Gelcoat Correction Package” service with inspection using daylight spectrum specialized lights. Even though we could not obtain a completely perfect finish, it was still a huge improvement from the results delivered with only the one stage correction and waxing. We do offer more in depth custom package options for RV’s and Trailers, however with this being an older model RV that has been stored outdoors for the majority of its life, that has been baking in the sun for years, it doesn’t quite have the thickness or quality level of gelcoat that you have on a new or relatively new RV. This package provided the safest option and best quality results for this specific job. Our client was extremely pleased with the results once we completed the entire service! Through our many years of experience and accumulated knowledge, our team is able to determine how far and in depth we can safely go on a correction service. It would not be ideal, nor safe to wet sand or by adding additional compounding stages with too heavy of cutting compounds on a RV with the original gelcoat in the condition that this one was in originally. Every job is a little different from the one before and a little different than the one after, especially when it comes to paint correction! We treat each job accordingly and believe that is a key factor in us being able to deliver the suburb results we do with every service that we provide.
